Question (30 Rabee' Awal 1424/May 31, 2003)

salam 'alaykum warahmatullah wabarakaatuh,
A brother has been called upon to teach other brothers in his University how to recite the Qur’an properly. Firstly, this brother himself has only learnt all the basic rules of tajwid and its application but hasn't ijaza in it. Should he teach these brothers knowing that he may bidhnillah improve their recitation? Secondly, what methodology should he adopt and how will this vary from the methodology adopted by a qualified teacher of with a strong chain of transmission.

assalamualaikum
I would like to congratulate you on a very wise and sensible site I just heard about it recently.
Anyway, I was wondering where I could get Housari recitations from I mean the late Housari recitations where he completely recites the muduud to their full and islamway.com does not have this type of recitation...parts of what I am looking for is in the tape called prayers of the last
prophet by Yusuf Islam  and its is written there that Housari appears courtesy of sidi productions I was wondering whether you know where I can
find this type of recitation and please listen to prayers of the prophet by Yusuf Islam to know what I mean.

SHUKURAN wa jazak allahu khairan.  I anticipate your reply.
wa assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

Question (26 Rabee' Awal 1424/May 27, 2003)

As-salam 'alaykum warahmatullah,
You have mentioned  number of times in your answers to questions the need to follow a particular tarteeb in the studies of the Qur’an. In a particular answer you mentioned that after memorisation of the Qur’an and obtaining Ijaza in the qira used in memorisation then one may proceed to learning all the different modes of recitation. Does this mean that a person who has completed the two stages can:

1. Learn the different qira'ah on his own and 2. Learn all the modes of recitation of the Qur’an at once and obtaining Ijaza in all, otherwise it’s going to take a long time to learn and master all the qira'aat.

As far as I knew, both the   and  are same.

Question (11 Rabee' Awal 1424/May 12, 2003)

Assalamu Alaikum

Please help me:
I've noticed in copies of the Qur'an (like the 'Noble Qur'an' ones with translation of Qur'an in English next to the Arabic in them) there are some places where there is the word 'laa' written at the end of an Ayah and it is not in the ordinary Mus-haf. For example it is written at the end of the aayah numbers 75 & 76 of Surah Waqi'ah in one copy of the Noble Qur'an that I have. I understand that 'laa' means you mustn't stop...please tell me why there is this difference and which is the better to follow?
Jazakumullahu Khairun!

Question/Comment (8 Rabee' Awal 1424/May 9, 2003)

As-Salaamu alaykum,
I was scanning through the site and I came across this question http://www.abouttajweed.com/170202.htm - 18k - 2002-02-23
I believe there is a small mistake in Arabic grammar
In Classical Arabic, when you are addressing someone, or calling them, the calling is either used directly, or implied.  The proper name after the ya’ of calling becomes marfoo’ in grammar, and usually (but not always) acquires a dhammah.   If an Arab in that time wanted to call the Prophet’s attention, they would have said (yaa Muhammedu), but the Muslims addressed him by (yaa Rasoolu-llah).
I believe that it should be Yaa Rasoola-llahi not Yaa Rasoolu-llahi because al-munadaa becomes manSoob in idhaafah. wa Allahu a3lam.

As-salam 'alaykum warahmatullah,
How long do you anticipate will take a student of tajweed who has successfully learnt and applied all the basic rules with a local teacher to obtain an Ijaza with a teacher with a very strong chain in tajweed.
