My question is regarding to starting recitation from the middle of a surah.

Question
Assalamu 'alaykum Warahmatullah,
My question is regarding to starting recitation from the middle of a surah. Which one better? if I want to start reciting from the middle of a surah? For example, I want to recite starting from the verse 10 from surat Qaf.
1) Isti'3aadhah + The middle of a surah. Or..
2) Isti'3aadhah + Basmalah + The middle of a surah; Or both?
"May ALLAH reward you, your family, friends and all the muslimeen/muslimaat the Jannatul Firdaus and more, ameen."
Answer
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
It is allowed to start with just the 'isti'aadhah or with the isti'aadhah and then the basmalah when starting recitation from the middle of the surah.  We will insha' Allah get more ajr when adding the basmalah after the isti'aadhah, Allah knows best.
When we start our recitation though, it should be an ibtidaa' at a taam (complete) start, meaning the place we are starting is not attached to what precedes it in meaning nor in grammar.  Starting on aayah 10 of surah Qaaf would not be an allowed start, since it is attached to what precedes it in both grammar (it is attached to the verb فأنبتنا به ) from the previous aayah.
Aameen, Aameen, Aameen and may Allah give you the same and more.
