Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatu lilahi wa barakatuh

May Allah increase your reward for every work you put through your research.  I have a few questions regarding Hafs by the way of both Ash Shatibbiyah and At Tayyibah.

A) Hafs by way of Ash Shatibbiyah

 1. the other way of reading verse 54 of surah Ar Roum, you referred to in your files, is by reading the word Dha'f with Dhamma. Is this the (same) dhamma found also in the riwayah of Warsh of that same verse and surah? In other words, reading the verse with a Dhamma just like in Warsh.

B) Hafs by the way of AtTayibah

1. Hafs by the way of AtTayyibah usually reads Al Medd Al Ja'iz al munfaSil with a 2 vowel count. Does the way of At Tayyibah (Hafs) also allow in some places of the Quran a 4/5 vowel count for that same medd?

The reason is that I have listened to at least 2 reciters who would read in Hafs by way of At Tayyibah with a two vowel count then switch to a 4/5 vowel count the medd al ja'iz and go back to a 2 vowel count again.

2. Does Hafs by tariq At Tayyibah allow idgham of ayah 28 of surah Al Qiyamah instead of sakt?

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Jazakum Allahu khairan for the dua’, and may Allah increase you in beneficial knowledge.

A.  Yes, This is the same dhammah that Warsh and the other qira’aat use in reading in the aayah:

So the words in red above are then pronounced as:  and in this allowed way of Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim and they way these words are read in the different qira’aat other than the qiraa’ah of ‘Aasim.

B1.  Tareeq At-Tayyibah refers to the way of the poem called Tayyibat-un Nashr that contains all the rules outlined in the famous book of Imam Ibn Al-Jazaree, An-Nashr fi-l-qirar’aat il-3shr.  There is not one way or tareeq in the book for Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim, but over 50. The name Tareeq at-Tayyibah may confuse many to think it is one way but in fact there are many ways in At-Tayyibah including tareeq Ash-Shaatibiyyah.

There are a few ways in Tareeq At-Tayyibah that have something called  or “lengthening for glorification”, which is when there is the negation of there being a deity other than Allah, such as in: .  In these few ways,  is normally two vowel counts but when the reader is at one of these special phrases, the word  of negation is lengthened to four vowel counts.  There are only a few ways of tareeq at-tayyibah for Hafs that have this allowed lengthening. Please see the following link for more explanation: http://www.abouttajweed.com/150707.htm .  Other than this exception, when reading at one sitting a continuous recitation, the mudood need to be equal.  In prayer, one can switch ways in different rak’ah, since each rak’ah is a separate recitation.

B2.  Yes, there are some ways in tareeq At-Tayyibah that have idghaam of  instead of a  .

Wa iyyaakum wa-l-muslimeen.
