Question
Assalaamu alaykum May Allah accept your great work during this beautiful month ameen I have a question about the The Rule of the Stronger of the Two Causes for a Lengthening section. It says that if both madd wajib mutassil and arid sukoon are reasons for lengthening the same madd then if you lengthen it 6 counts you are only doing arid sukoon but the wajib mutassil is stronger and I thought that the stronger madd prevails then should you only be allowed to do the arid sukoon madd 4 counts and not 6. Or does this section mean: which ever of the madds is the strongest then that is the least amount of counts allowed i.e. you cannot use less counts. I’m confused. JazakAllahu Khayran for all your help Answer Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh Ameen and may Allah accept all the Muslims fasts and righteous deeds. If we are lengthening six vowels counts in our normal reading and we stop on a word which has both and sharing the medd letter, such as the alif in , is then the strongest because it is similar to a medd laazim when it is lengthened six vowel counts. We know the strongest of all mudood is medd al-laazim, so it is the medd used in this case. Again, this is only if we are lengthening all of our medd 'aaridh six vowel counts in our reading. Wa iyyaakum. |
