Question
What is difference between muraqaq and mufkum and what is meaning of muraqaq.  Thanks
Answer
A letter which is muraqaq is a letter which is read with tarqeeq, or attenuation in English.  With tarqeeq the posterior portion of the tongue is not raised up and the sound is not focused up to the roof of the mouth, so one does not hear an echo with the letter.

A letter which is mufakham is a letter which is read with tafkheem, or velaraization in English.  With tafkheem the posterior portion of the tongue is raised up and the sound is focused up to the roof of the mouth so the mouth fills up with an echo.
