Question
Asalamalaikum,

I have a question regarding the permission of teaching tajweed. I have studied with a well known UK islamic institute learning the basic rules of tajweed and passed my exams alhumdolila in this (noon sakinah, meem sakina, laam ladfh al jalala, qalqala, raa tafhkeem and tarqeeq rules, tarqeeq and tafkheem letters, all madd rules, lengthening rules, articulation points)

I have not passed charateristics of the letters (2 same/similar/close apart, hamzah al wasl,al waqf, al ibtida, female ha written as taa) but attended the classes, in addition i have passed tarteel and am currently studying hifs.

Would I then be allowed to teach my friends and family tajweed up to the level I have obtained, as my friends and family are requesting me to do so?

Jazakallah khair

Wasalaam

Answer
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
First of all, congratulations on passing your exams and being keen to continue your education and teach others.  May Allah increase you in beneficial knowledge and give you the manners of the Qur'an.
The permission for you to teach should come from the institute you studied at and your teacher.
To teach you need to have excelled in your studies and perfected the application of the rules.  Only your teacher and the institute can judge if you are qualified to teach.
Normally, a teacher will teach at a level lower than what they have completed studying, only if their teacher has given them permission to teach.

Wa iyyaakum.
Wa assalaam alalikum wa rahmatullah.
