Question

Assalamualaikum wa ramatullahi wa barakatuh,

I would like to know what is the syllabus that the students of tajweed must complete in order to graduate (to say that we learned all the ahkam tajweed)

jazakumullah khair.

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,

The contents of the tidbit archives covers about all of the rules of tajweed for Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim there are, outside of a few minor points here and there.  If one studied and learned to apply all that is in the archived tidbit lessons they have done quite well.  The most important thing is applying the rules, not just studying the rules.  Generally the best way is to study the complete Qur’an tilawaah under a teacher with him/her correcting the students on all the rules.  The teacher most likely will not be able to listen to the whole Qur’an from every student, but if he/she hears a good portion and all the students prepare the complete homework not knowing which portion the teacher will listen to, it will be a good accomplishment. There should be testing done by the teacher with a committee in both the applied tajweed to the whole Qur’an and the written rules.

This of course, is not an ijaazah, but a study and application of all the rules of tajweed for Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim.
