Question

assalamualaikum
I would like to congratulate you on a very wise and sensible site I just heard about it recently.
Anyway, I was wondering where I could get Housari recitations from I mean the late Housari recitations where he completely recites the muduud to their full and islamway.com does not have this type of recitation...parts of what I am looking for is in the tape called prayers of the last
prophet by Yusuf Islam  and its is written there that Housari appears courtesy of sidi productions I was wondering whether you know where I can
find this type of recitation and please listen to prayers of the prophet by Yusuf Islam to know what I mean.

SHUKURAN wa jazak allahu khairan.  I anticipate your reply.
wa assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh. Jazakum Allahu khairan.

We tried to find a sample of the recitation from the tape entitled “The Prayers of the Last Prophet”, but could not find an audio file sample. There is however on the Arabic page of Qur’an recitation on Islamway, a set of Ash-Sheikh Al-Husary reciting very slowly with four counts for the mutaSil and munfaSil, it is named mu3llim recitation, or teaching recitation.  This may or may not be what you heard on the tape, but it is with four counts for both mentioned types of mudood.  We could not access the English side of Islamway to determine whether these recordings are available there or not.   You can find the audio files of Ash-Sheikh Al-Husary with the slow recitation at the following links:

Addendum
We received an email that gives a site with Husary reading both al-mutaSil and al-munfaSil with four counts. The site is: http://islaam.net/display/display.php?category=49.

The email stated that it was recommended to download the files instead of streaming them because they are large; and that the files were of CD burning quality.  We listened to some of the files and they are good quality and the recitation is slow and very pleasant.  Do not think you have to download a complete juz' at once; once you click on a juz' a new page comes up with the different surahs, and you can click on an individual surah and download it, or listen by streaming.

It was also said in the email  that Insha' Allah in the near future, Abdul Baset's and Muhammad al-Minshawi's Hafs min tareeq ish-Shaatibiyyah sets will be put up on the above site .

May Allah reward the brother greatly for giving us all this information.

Wa iyyakum wa-l-muslimeen.

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh
