Question

Assalaamu alaikum.  We are living in the Gulf area and some of us have seen a very interesting program about tajweed on the "Iqraa" chanel (a famous sheikh, Sheikh Aiman as-Suwaid, may Allah protect him and reward him, teaches the rules of tajweed). The problem is that no one seems to know for sure when it is being shown exactly ( those who have seen it just happened to see it, masha Allah!).  Would you have any idea about this program and when it is being shown in the Gulf area? Or where I might be able to find out?  Jazakumu Allahu khairan!

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh.  Indeed Sheikh Ayman, may Allah protect him, grant him good health and a long life, and increase his reward, is a top authority on tajweed and the qira’aat.  His show “Kayfa niqra’ al-Qur’an” is an excellent source for information on tajweed, as well as the opportunity to listen to him recite and learn from his recitation.  The show is live on Iqraa at 9 -10 p.m., every Saturday night, Mekkah time. There are some weeks when it is a repeat of previous episodes, but usually is live.  The show is repeated the day after (Sunday) at 2:00 p.m. Mekkah time.  The show is in Arabic, and there is an opportunity to call in questions or recite live to the sheikh, hafithahu Allah.  Iqraa is a satellite channel and is part of the Arab Radio & Television [ART] Network and is available in Europe (Hotbird), the Gulf (Arabsat), North Africa (Arabsat) and South Africa (PAS 7).  Repeats of the older shows are shown daily  in the morning (around 6 or 8 a.m.) Mekkah time.
