Question

Assalamu 'alaykum

Thank you very much for commencing the new lessons for Warsh. They will be
extremely valuable, inshallah.

I have two brief questions:

1. I would like to make my own tajweed notes in English, based on your lessons. These would be strictly for personal use only and would not be printed / distributed etc. May I have permission to do this?

2. Re rule 5 in Lesson Two on Warsh http://www.abouttajweed.com/warsh_rules_2.htm : two exceptions to the four & six vowel count badl are given. Is it a completely free choice whether one can exclude these two words from the rule? If one chooses to exclude one the words from the rule, must one also exclude the other word?
Wassalam

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

We pray that they will be of use to the students of the different qira’aat and ask Allah to accept it from us.

  1. If you use them for your own personal use as you laid out in the question, we have no problem with your request, jazaka Allahu khairan.  We only object when lessons or parts of our site are printed out and distributed to others. Please recheck lessons after they are posted, sometimes we edit them or further explain things later.

  2. The exception is always in place for the words and categories of the exception and there is no choice in the matter. The excepted words and categories in the exception list for are always read with only two vowel counts in the recitation of Warsh ‘an Naafi’ by the way of Ash-Shatibiyyah.

Wa assalaam alaikum wa rahmatullah.
