I believe that it is a duty to all Muslims to know the history of the Quran; therefore, I would like to know which books/book (and author) would you recommend me to buy that explain(s):

a- how the suwar were organized
b- what are the mushaf and the Uthman copies
c- how the Prophet (peace be uopn him) received the revelation
d- how the Quran was compiled etc

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

What you are looking for is an ‘uloom al-Qur’an book.  As far as we are aware of the books in English are not anywhere near the accuracy and detail of the Arabic ‘uloom al-Qur’an books, in fact some English books on ‘uloom al-Qur’an have many weak hadeeths.  If you can read Arabic at a decent level, the two volume book: Fann At-Tarteel wa ‘uloomuh, by Ash-Sheikh Ahmed bin Ahmed At-Taweel is very useful and contains what you are looking for.  It is published by the King Fahd Printing Complex.  The Arabic is not too advanced, but you do need to be able to read and understand quite a bit to benefit from it.
