Question

As salaamu alaikum,

I want to learn, but am limited in the way of resources.  Insha' Allah, I will gain some resources.  Are there any resources available to assist me in learning Arabic?  Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh.

There are quite a few teaching sites on the Internet, with varying degrees of usefulness.  They can be used to get a head start and learn some of the basics until you can enroll in a more formal class setting.

There is a free download from the following site that has some lessons (Book 1) used in the University in Medinah Munawwarah, which has a program for teaching Arabic to non-Arabs.  You need the Adobe reader, which is another free download, to view it.  http://www.fatwa-online.com/downloads/downloads.htm

The following site has many links for learning Arabic.  We caution that we only looked at only a few of the links, and urge your caution too.

Another idea is to find an Arab brother at your mosque, if you live in an area that has one, that would be willing to teach you.  You could talk to your imam, and he may be able to help you find a brother willing to tutor for the reward from Allah, not for a fee.

May Allah grant you the best method of learning Arabic, and make it easy for you.
