Question

What happens if you read a word wrong. Would you go to hell?

Answer

Subhana Allah whose Mercy is greater than we can imagine, and greater than any human can have.  All praises to Allah, the Most Merciful, who does not put on a soul more than they can bear, and wrongs no one.

If a person makes a mistake, meaning they did not intend to make that mistake, but somehow it came out wrong, they are not held accountable for that, insha’ Allah.  It a person tries their best to read a letter or word correctly, but cannot perfect it, insha’ Allah, they will not be held accountable for that either.

The kind of error in recitation that would earn a person sins would be a purposeful error, meaning they purposely read the word incorrectly and do not try to fix the error, even when told it is wrong.  Please read the PDF download “Why should we read the Qur’an with tajweed” especially the last two pages and click on this question and answer for more information and assurance.
