Following my question about the word:    (29 Dhul Hajjah 1422/ Mar.13, 2002),  I have the following question for the word :    in Surah Al Mursalaat, aayah 20:

Is the merging of the into the   an incomplete merging also? (as the   was into the  ) that is, does the quality of "tafkheem" remain from the  when merging into the  ?

 Answer

Bismillah ar-rahmaan ar-raheem.  May Allah reward you for your questions and increase your knowledge.

The idghaam of the saakinah into the letter  in the word ,  is a complete merging and nothing is left over from the  in the way of characteristics or articulation point.  You may notice that there is a shaddah over the .  In an incomplete merging, the Medinah copy you will not see a shaddah on the incomplete merging, whereas in the complete merging there will be a shaddah on the second letter of the idghaam.

None of the 10 ways of recitation read  with an incomplete merging.
