Besides of course, learning the Qur’an with tajweed, how can we perfect our tone to beautify our reading?

Listening to tapes of known good reciters can help you recognize what kind of recitation is beautiful in both ways, tajweed and in tone.  The Prophet, peace and blessing upon him, ordered us to beatify the Qur’an with our voices, but we need to be careful not to “sing” it. For new Muslims or those unfamiliar with recitation, it may be necessary to listen to tapes of well known reciters, not to copy their tone, but to get a feel of the correct way of beautifying the Qur’an without stepping in the category of “singing” it.
