Question

Assalaam alaikum.

In Imam Ibn Al-Jazaree's poem: it is stated:"" , "and return each one to it's source (origin?)."

Could you please explain what does this means we should do exactly? Jazakumu Allahu khair.

Also would you know of where a sound tape of this poem could be purchased to follow along with proper pronunciation and to hear the correct way to recite such a poem?

 Answer

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Alalhi wa barakatuh.

The line of the poem about tajweed in question, , refers to returning each letter to its origin, meaning making sure every letter is within its proper limits as to the articulation point.

The poem well known as Al-Jazariyyah and the sound recording read by Dr. Sheikh Ayman Swayd are available quite locally in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  There are sound recordings in other Arab countries by other shuyookh, but we are not aware of their availability.

We do plan on putting up the poem with the sound files of Dr. Sheikh Ayman in the near future, but still have to work out the technical aspects.
